Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of a water bore?
A water bore can be a great investment for your property. Bore water is a natural renewable resource that is an alternative water supply for some domestic purposes. Water bores draw water from groundwater aquifers and are ideal for irrigation of lawns and plants and drought proofing your garden. Bores can be used instead of the drinking water supply, allowing you to water more often and save money on water bills. They last a lifetime, are efficient and environmentally-friendly.
Q: What do I need to do to get a bore installed?
A: Contact an experienced driller such as Bores R Us who will construct your bore in accordance with the Australian Drilling Industry Association (ADIA) bore installation standard.
Q: How long does bore installation take?
A: Depending on the material being drilled and the depth of the bore you are looking to install, it usually takes anywhere from 3 hours to a full day.
Q: Do I need council approval to get a bore?
A: No. Council approval is not needed when drilling for water on your private property. Some areas however require a licence.
Q: How much does it cost to have a bore installed?
Q: Can you provide a quote on the phone or via email or do you need to come over and look at the site?
A: An estimate can be given over the phone but a final property inspection is necessary before a final quote is given.
Q: Do you give a warranty for the bore you install?
A: At Bores R Us our bores have a 10 year construction guarantee and all other parts carry manufacturer’s warranties. An extra 12 months is offered on some brands of pumps.
Q: Will there be any maintenance on the bore you install?
A: No maintenance is required, with only some areas with bad iron stains requiring remediation from time to time. We do suggest that pumps are run for a short time even in winter months.
Q: Do you drill outside of Perth?
A: Yes, we have drilled as far North as Darwin, Quairading in the East and Kojonup in the South.
